Early spider orchid

An orchid inconspicuous like a majority of Ophrys. Measuring between 10 and 40 cm and growing on calcareous soils: fallow land, low sides. color. 

The basal field is concolorous to the labellum but often lighter.

It is found in many French departments but mainly in the west of the country and not at altitude. Other close species take its place in other departments where it would be rarer. It is a relatively early orchid and will be observed between Mars and May.
