Orchis quadripunctata.
Orchis à quatre points.
Four spotted orchid.

This small Orchis is present in southern Italy, Greece and on both sides of the Adriatic coast. In Sicily and Sardinia, we will find Orchis brancifortii very close. The plant measures from 10 to 30 cm with a very variable number of flowers. The points on the labellum: 2 visible and 2 more or less hidden give it its name. Exceptionally, these can be absent. The leaves are known to be spotted but as for many Orchis, this is far from being the case in the populations observed, so it should not be used as a reliable identification criterion, the exceptions being numerous.
