Ophrys bertolonii-bertoloniiformis.
Ophrys de Bertoloni.
Bertoloni's bee orchid.
Medium-sized ophrys with flowers whose labellum is very dark brown, almost black, curved, and with a shiny macula. Petals and sepals tinged more or less strongly with pink.
While it is relatively easy to identify by morphologically linking the different Ophrys that make up the "Bertoloni" group, it will probably be more complicated to separate them within the group. Depending on the country and region, the names differ but are not recognized as valid as distinct species. In the case of France: Ophrys aurelia and Ophrys drumana, Ophrys saratoi, which are unofficial regional names. In Italy, in the north Ophrys bertolonii and in the south Ophrys romolinii (this name is not recognized) but also "benacencis", "explanata" and in Spain "balearica", "catalaunica".
As for Ophrys bertoloniiformis, whose location is that of Monte Gargano, we can find a little hybrid air in it and its name is also invalid.
So the official names of Ophrys bertolonii and the local taxon Ophrys lunulata in Sicily remain.
